Sometimes, I feel that writing just for the self-interest of expression is absurdity. You just write and write, just making a selfish art in which you are the only one who can understand it; just wasting you’re time for a trash since recession would still remain after you have come up with your write-up out of your extreme emotion.
Not until my world as a writer grew.
“The writer’s sanctuary is the people”.
My college life presented me this dictum which honed me to become a mature writer. And with this, I find my purpose in writing.
From this, the world of my pen widened. I was introduced into social integration. My field of experiences became more extensive. I have learned more about the reality of life. Live stories have been added to my education.
The people have shared their lives with me. And through this pen that I am using now, I will make my part. I will make those forgotten and ignored stories come into limelight to pull the attention of those who do not know. So what? So that no one would be excused from being ignorant of the social realities. So what? To persuade people for their collective effort of improving the social system. So what? To make the system fair to all.
I call this realistic optimism rather than idealism because idealism is at part different from realistic optimism. Realistic optimism is having a positive outlook out of understanding and analyzing the reality. Idealism is pure romanticism of life.
However, only a little space on the publication paper is entitled to me since the publication is composed of big staff. That space is not enough to put those writings from those people who thought me how to “really write”.
So what I have to do is to ensure of making sensible articles since the space is limited. Articles that are brief and concise, but with substance. Articles that will not only profit me but also the majority because selfishness will never do good to humanity.
Coined words to be used are innumerable but only few are with sense. Sentences are easy to construct but only few are of substance. Myriad can have the pen but only few can stroke it.
Writers are at part responsible for social improvement because we are the eye-openers of our readers. So to be a more effective writer, we should use the space on the paper efficiently.
We are in a country where “freedom” is “exercised”. But the limited space on the paper entitled to the writers only signifies that freedom has its own limitation.
