I am looking forward to an excellent masterpiece, that is, a life stroked through holistic education, splashed with the bright color of a successful career framed inside a strong, happy and loving family.
Life begins with science and ends with aesthetics. According to Albert Einstein, after a certain high level of technical skill is achieved, science tends to coalesce in aesthetics, plasticity and form. The greatest scientists are always the greatest artists as well.
A holistic education comprised of sharp, extensive and remarkably skillful application of knowledge on natural, physical and a social science is the first step in the science-aesthetics progression of life. (As students of paramedical and computer studies), natural and physical sciences are what we usually learn from the four corners of the classroom and in related learning experiences in the field of our courses. The extent of our education in social sciences depends on how we expose ourselves, on how we open our eyes and on the way we get ourselves involved in the scenario of the reality most students of a petty-bourgeois educational institution never see. It is the scary reality of the filthy underbelly of the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Social apathy which my-and-your culture breed is the kind of miseducation we should stay away from. Let us not wait for the time that there will be no chance to resolve the brutality of how social and political circuses play the minds of miseducated people. Let us not loss the remaining optimism from the reality of our generation. For when cynicism starts to reign, you won’t be able to hide behind your facility with language or keep people at arm’s length with your witty sardonic repartee just to convince them to regain hope in their vocabulary.
Why am I involving you in this point of view? It is because my life and your life are just few of the materials for the mosaic conveying the new generation of Filipinos, vigorous and optimistic enough to face the challenges of the future for we are equipped with the unbreakable arms of holistic education. Too idealistic? Well at least, positive ideas attract positive results while dark pessimistic standpoints usually lead to failure.
The extent of how complete a holistic education is depends on the assertiveness of the person with regards to learning.
The more holistic the education we have learned, the more successful would be our career as the more expressive the content of an artwork is, the more attractive it would be for the scrupulous spectators. Successful career measures completeness of education while attention of spectators measures the beauty of an artwork.
Achieving holistic education and reaching the limelight of successful career without losing a strong, happy and loving family is one of the hardest thing a person may encounter in finishing his masterpiece. Like what is happening now, the number of broken families increase together with the number of Overseas Filipino Workers who courageously leave the country to provide their children the high cost of holistic education for they also wish them a successful career.
Life is everybody’s art masterpiece.
Transgressing through the science-aesthetics progression of life is like forging a rubbish metal through heat and pressure to make it into a marvelous sharp. In easy words, a successful life usually came from hard work. A beautiful masterpiece usually came from well-practiced/experienced artist.
Let us all aspire a wonderful art masterpiece we call life. We can make it happen. There is the potential in us. And that potential is not limited to million-dollar words or pseudo-intellectual jingos or pithy comments about life, love and the art of celluloid.
“There is no such art for art’s sake. Art is a product of resolving the contradiction and struggles within an artist’s heart and mind. Art speaks for the hands who made it.”
