Do you know what’s worth fighting for
When it’s not worth dying for?
Does it take your breath away
And you feel yourself suffocating?
Does the pain weight out the pride?
And you look for a place to hide?
Does someone break your heart inside?
You’re in ruins
One, 21 guns
Lay down your arms
Give up the fight
One, 21 guns
Throw up your arms into the sky
You and i
When you’re at the end of the road
And you lost all sense of control
And your thoughts have taken their toll
When your mind breaks the spirit of your soul
Your faith walks on broken glass
And the hangover doesn’t pass
Nothing’s ever built to last
You’re in ruins
One, 21 guns
Lay down your arms
Give up the fight
One, 21 guns
Throw up your arms into the sky
You and i
Did you try to live on your own
When you burned down the house and home?
Did you stand too close to the fire?
Like a liar looking for forgiveness from a stone
When it’s time to live and let die
And you can’t get another try
Something inside this heart has died
You’re in ruins
One, 21 guns
Lay down your arms
Give up the fight
One, 21 guns
Throw up your arms into the sky
You and i
* The lyrics of this song excluding the chorus, intersects with my personal experiences.
> I’ve been dubious of things that could make me stronger – the things that are worth fighting for, up to the point of losing myself in searching my soul.
>I’ve already been hurt by myriad people but I have to keep those pains by masking those tears by smiles and laughters.
>I’ve even questioned the existence of God, my faith has shaken
> Something inside this heart has died – I have changed. That stupid girl has changed. She’s more stupid now :)
* The chorus does not correlate with my life. And, I am proud. Giving up will never be for stepping forward. Giving up will never make you free. Giving up just make you weak. Giving up means losing . Giving up goes with death. It’s good I didn’t give up. And I stayed alive living in what I call “LIFE”.
* 21 Guns is the real song for humans because humans are naturally weak. It instills the idea of giving up to free one’s self from the struggles of life.It integrates the idea of giving up for it is an easy way out from the realities of “LIFE”.
* As to experience, it is really more relaxing to hear songs and sing those musics depicting human weakness. First, because it is easier to admit that humans are naturally weak than proving otherwise. Second, it is easier to go with the flow than to resist the current to direct one’s self to the direction he really likes. Third, majority can not differentiate “humans” from “sub-human species”.
* 21 Guns is a good song. It had made me think deeper about human nature.
to cather:
about that human nature,
I think you have had mislooked the messages written between the lines of my reflections about the song.
First, we should start from the argument that majority can not differentiate humans from sub-human species. Because of the fast-paced living, majority neglects to reflect the meaning of human-becoming. Sometimes, because of the demand of capitalism, many are bombarded with mindless working, They forget to search the real meaning of being a human.
Because of that, they become fixated, they are merely moved by what their time dictates them to do. They are likened to subhuman species like animals who merely follows the command of their owner.
Because of letting themselves be defeated by the demands of capitalism, they have not experienced cultivating their souls. They have neglected their souls in exchange of the needs of their physical world.
In that way, they became weak. their soul had not achieved its optimum strength.
Second, the argument of uneven development. We have different paces of human becoming, the more human we become, the stronger our soul is. That all depend on how we feed our souls. Of course, I am not only telling of praying as a form of feeding our souls, what i am to say are the experiences that forge our souls. To gain experience needs a basket full of courage. It takes courage to become human. It takes courage to be strong.
Third is the argument that humans are naturally weak. For me, it is my opinion that humans are naturally weak. Only few succeeds in dealing with the journey where at the end, they become real human.
Ask yourself why there are myriad turmoils on earth. ask yourself why there are ruling class and class being ruled. ask yourself why few people could still be stay happy in front of very overt severe sufferings of the majority.
ask yourself if we all had been successful in dealing with that journey where at the end, we all become real human, where at the end we gained the strength to become such.
Then ask yourself, are all humans real humans? are all humans strong enough to act their supposed roles of improving the status of the society?
Posted by adventurousscribe at November 4, 2009, 4:54 pmReal human. its definition varies. it is relative and indeed subjective. very “variable”. u may define a “real human” that way and others in different cultures and perceptions may define it differently. well, that is life. it can be played in many ways.
Supposed roles if improving the status of the society. this again is relative. not every human feels the need to do something for the society. ones human has fulfilled its satisfaction, they have 2 choices, to have their social responsiblity done, or to have that responsibility ignored. humans are not coerced to do the supposed roles of improving the status of the society.if they improved their selves as a human, its enough. if they feel the need, they can opt to committing their selves in improving the society. People with personality disorders are the perfect examples.
